The lady is a magnificent blessing to us all. She is living with stage four breast cancer, taking heart from the support of family and friends too numerous to count.

IN MEMORIAM

Thursday, October 2, 2008

The funeral for Scott took place this morning at the Community Church of Douglaston. Joe has been involved in choral activities there for many, many years. He had been looking forward to moving back to Douglaston to be nearby.

Marita woke up a little earlier than usual today. We will have to see how that affects the rest of her day. It surely makes for more scrambling for us to be ready by 10.

Breakfast was one of my oddball creations. Per our usual style we each had a bagel. The oddness starts with my topping mine with leftover chicken barbeque and swiss cheese. But there's more. Marita wanted some moisture in hers so I exchanged the cheese for a few dollops of Dan's butternut squash soup.

The weather was delightful. Sunny, cool and breezy. We had windows and doors cracked all day to take advantage. I even managed to get out in the yard.

Marita had a marvelous afternoon with old friends from college. Her roommate Ann flew down from Boston with Jane. Joan provided local area transportation during their mission of love. We had about three hours of catching up.

Diane stopped in to bring her potato leek soup, salad and french bread. We will enjoy them during the leadup to this evening's debate.

Deniz is coming over to watch the VP debate tonight.
